Terms & conditions

Last updated 2 August 2026

These terms govern your access to and use of the UN Career Academy course and website (the “Course”). They form a binding agreement between you and UN Career Academy (“we”, “us”, “the operator”). By enrolling in or using the Course you accept these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not enrol.

One thing to be clear about at the outset: your purchase is made from Paddle, not from us. Paddle is our Merchant of Record and is the seller of the Course to you. These terms govern the licence we grant you and your use of the Course; the sale itself sits with Paddle. Clause 5 sets out what that means in practice.

The Course is sold by Paddle as Merchant of Record, which is the seller and trader of record for your purchase and issues your receipt. The Course itself is produced and operated by UN Career Academy, contactable at help@uncareeracademy.org.

1. The licence we grant

On payment we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access the Course content for your own individual use. This licence does not permit you to copy, reproduce, redistribute, publish, resell, sub-licence, or share the content, nor to share your login credentials or otherwise give any other person access to your account.

2. Intellectual property and trade marks

All Course content (videos, written materials, tools, templates, and the website itself) remains our property or that of our licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property rights. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you.

Our name and logo are our marks. The Course is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the United Nations or any of its organs, funds, programmes, or specialised agencies. We use no United Nations emblem, name, or insignia, and any references to the United Nations are descriptive only.

3. No guarantee of any outcome

The Course is educational. It does not guarantee or promise employment, an interview, a roster placement, or any other outcome with the United Nations or any organisation. Recruitment decisions rest entirely with the relevant employer. Any examples or results referred to are illustrative and are not a representation of what you will achieve.

4. Lifetime access

“Lifetime access” means access for the operational lifetime of the Course and our business; it is not a guarantee of access for any fixed number of years, nor that the Course will be maintained indefinitely. Content updates, where we make them, are included at no further cost, but we do not promise updates on any particular schedule or at all.

5. Price, payment, and who you buy from

The price payable is the price shown at checkout, which may vary by country.

Paddle is the seller. As our Merchant of Record, Paddle is the reseller of the Course to you, so your purchase contract for the transaction is with Paddle rather than with us. Paddle takes the payment, charges and remits any VAT or sales tax, issues your receipt, and handles billing queries, refunds and chargebacks under Paddle’s buyer terms. You can reach Paddle about an order at paddle.net. We do not receive or store your card details. You are responsible for any taxes due in your jurisdiction that Paddle does not collect at checkout.

6. Immediate access and your right of withdrawal

The Course is digital content supplied immediately. At checkout you are asked to expressly request that access begins immediately and to acknowledge the effect on your right of withdrawal: the statutory 14-day right for digital content under EU and equivalent consumer law is lost once supply begins with your prior express consent. Because Paddle is the seller, that consent is given as part of your purchase from Paddle and it is Paddle that relies on it. We record it as well, and we grant access as soon as your purchase completes.

Because the purchase contract is with Paddle (clause 5), the statutory withdrawal right, and any refund of the price, run against Paddle under its buyer terms, and Paddle takes refund requests at paddle.net. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have against Paddle or any right you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded. As between you and us, having asked for immediate access, the price is not refundable by us once access has been granted.

None of this affects your rights where the Course is not as described or is faulty. Those rights may run against Paddle as the seller as well as against us, and you are free to use either route. In practice: if the problem is with the content or with your access, write to us at help@uncareeracademy.organd we will work to resolve it, because we are the ones who can actually fix it; if what you want is your money back, that is Paddle’s to give.

7. Acceptable use and account security

Your account is for you alone. You must keep your login secure and not disclose it. You must not share, sell, or distribute your access or the content; circumvent any access controls; or use the Course for any unlawful purpose. Credential sharing and piracy are material breaches of these terms.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access without refund if you breach these terms, in particular where you share credentials, redistribute the content, or attempt to circumvent access controls. On termination the licence in clause 1 ends and you must stop using the content.

9. Limitation of liability

The Course is provided on an “as is” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of opportunity, profits, or anticipated career outcomes arising from your use of the Course. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the Course.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, that choice does not take away the protection given to you by any rule of the law of the country where you are domiciled or habitually resident that cannot be departed from by agreement. Those rules continue to apply to you in addition to these terms.

If you are a consumer, we will bring any proceedings against you under these terms only in the courts of the country where you are domiciled or habitually resident, and you may bring proceedings against us either in those courts or in the Netherlands. That does not prevent us from raising a counterclaim in proceedings you have brought, or from applying to any court that has jurisdiction for an urgent order to stop unauthorised copying, sharing or redistribution of the Course. If you are not a consumer, disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Netherlands.

These terms cover the licence we grant you. Your purchase itself is from Paddle (clause 5) and is governed by Paddle’s own terms, which may specify a different law and a different forum.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Routine, non-material updates take effect when published on this page, and your continued use of the Course constitutes acceptance of them. Where a change is material we will notify you and, where required, ask you to accept the updated terms before you continue. The version in force is the one published on this page on the date shown above.
